Maquinal begins with the recording of expressions, gestures and minimal actions in order to explore how repetition alters what we see.
Organised as moving images that return insistently, the actions initially appear automatic. However, each repetition reveals small differences, tensions and unexpected meanings. The work transforms detail into a field of observation and invites viewers to continually reconsider their perception and interpretation of the images.
What new meanings can emerge through the insistence of a gesture?
