Fade Out
2011
12:30

‘Fade-out’ is a technical term used in both film and sound to designate a transition or an ending: the decrease of a signal until it reaches silence or disappears completely. The scene focuses on the gradual sinking of a drum set under a flow of gravel, where each impact is amplified and recorded as a shock on different parts of the instrument. The sequence offers an immersive experience of a purely technical process by materialising the transition between two states. The flow produces a rhythmic section that slowly transforms into a sonic and visual shock.
